Remember when I offered up ideas, IDEAS, to renegade … yeah, I’m doing two plays; a full production and a rehearsed reading. After watching Abi Morgan talk at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, I was inspired to set deadlines, achievable deadlines like 2014ish. I have been given quite the deadline.

I have one month to FINISH and stage Shed!

Written & Directed by Charlie Hay
Shed is the story of Jonathan, an illegal border guard who charges people to get out of the corrupt country in which he lives. He tells himself he is making money for his family’s protection and will leave eventually, but the more people he meets, the more he doubts himself, his actions and what’s on the other side of the wall.

I have one month to finish a readable version of Cake!

Cake by Charlie Hay
A Rehearsed Reading Directed by Charlie Hay

A person (A) commits an offence if –

(a) he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person (B) with his penis,

(b) B does not consent to the penetration, and

(c) A does not reasonably believe that B consents.

I have taken some time off both my jobs to concentrate on the scripts for a few days but it’s tough. I’ve never been under so much pressure to produce something on time. For me, writing is a hobby, something I delve into at my leisure, now it’s actually work. This is almost a living, someone wants to stage these things from my brain and people will be paying to see it.

Find the Facebook event here:

and follow me on facebook and twitter to watch me slowly crumble and the progress of both scripts. If you’d like to read the scripts and offer feedback, email me at charlieehay@googlemail.com
