Tape

Little bit retro, not very rock and roll, this is the story of two kids growing up and finding themselves. If only things were that easy. Both the victims of great tragedy and heartbreak, Ryan and Ameliah are trying to make sense of the world around them. They are helped by each other and an old cassette player. However, Ryan is in 1993 and Ameliah is in 2013.  Steven Camden, aka spoken-word artist PolarBear, has a way with words as you would expect. However, I found his character’s lacking something, they weren’t fully developed and neither was the plot. A lot of questions were left unanswered and I couldn’t help but feel slightly unsatisfied. The premise had so much potential, that’s the books biggest tragedy.
